                                             What makes a good title sequence?

1. Kyle Cooper is accredited with what?

Kyle Cooper is credited as the man who single-handedly revitalised the main title sequence as an art form.

2. What does he think makes a good title sequence?
  •  A great title sequence sets an expectation which gets the audience excited
  • The fact that it double tails seamlessly into the film
3. What is important about the font used in the film Seven?
  • It is in hand written form which integrates with the main characters mind
  • It was made to look like the main character (the killer) had done it himself
4. What reasons does he give for liking the following title sequences?
Deadzone:
  • Simple typography
  • The music is played out overtime which is mysterious
To Kill a Mocking Bird:
  • Beautifully photographed the marble distort
  • The background- use of macro objects
  • Contrast of the type is integrated
5. What does he mean by "story based" main title sequences?

Specific back story- had a clear metaphor of what the film is about

6. What problems might a studio face after an audience test screening?
  • They may not have enough budget to go over a shoot or do a new scene
  • The test audience might not understand some aspects of certain scenes.

  • Becomes part of the main scene - prologue etc.
  • Help put in information that got put out due to timing, failure etc.
  • Use the time to advance the plot

The beginning sets the movie up

The title design is used to help the movie back story and put the audiences ahead of the film so they can get some understanding and plot preview of what will happen in the film.
