Pitch Task 2 - What type of title sequence is it? (Rohima Chowdhury)

2) What type of title sequence is it?

A. Do you intend to have a Discrete, stylised, narrative or animated title sequence:

- We intend to have a Discrete title sequence as it will aim to get the audience in the mood of the film. Also, the use of the font we will use will make the genre clear to the audience as our genre is a thriller film.

B. What real title sequences have influenced you:

1. Insomnia- This is a Mystery/ Thriller film similar to our title sequence, this has influenced our title sequence because the font type is clear and simple and makes it easy for the audience to identify the genre of the film. It creates a mystery to get the audience more intrigued and continue watching the movie. We mostly liked the simplicity of the title sequence and will use this in our title sequence including title credits on blank screens and moving images.

2. Psycho - This film is a psychological thriller and has influenced our film title sequence because the sound in the background is very confusing yet eerie. As it is a psychological thriller there are common music however this title sequence has a calm and relaxing background music which creates confusion to the audience in wondering what the film could be about.

C. Do you intend to stick close to (conform) or challenge the conventions seen?

We intend to challenge the common conventions in a thriller title sequence, the common conventions are: tension music, low key lighting, diegetic sound of breathing, black and white shots. Although we will challenge the coventions seen we may use some common conventions such as diegetic sound of breathing as it is part of our title sequence. However, the challenging convention will be that at the end of the title sequence the audience will be confused as to whether it is a thriller or a psychological thriller, building tension and making the audience want to continue watching on.
